Tachy- or bradycardia, hyper- or hypotension, dyspnea, bronchospasm or wheezing, complaints of throat closing. Response should be to stop infusion, take BP and pulse, notify, prepare to administer oxygen and IV meds, prevent aspiration if vomitting, elevate lower extremities if brady- or tachycardia.
Dyspnea related to laryngeal edema, hypotension, seizures, cardiac arrhythmia, lack of pt response, cardiac arrest. Response should be to call code blue, notify, prepare to use defibrillator, prepare to help in administering oxygen and IV meds.
Associated with sharp decrease in kidney function over 48-72 hours caused by certain contrast dyes. Symptoms are similar to those of kidney disease.
Associated between GBCA administration and development of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis is recognized in patients with severe renal impairment.
